Terms and conditions

Deutsche Fassung

Version of 11 September 2026. These terms apply to every purchase of an Hours Booster 2 licence through hoursbooster.com. Your purchase is governed by the version that was available at the time of purchase.

1. Scope and contracting party

Your contracting party is the operator of hoursbooster.com, a sole trader based in Germany who trades under the name Hours Booster 2 (“we”). We are a small business owner under Section 19 of the German VAT Act (UStG). You can reach us by email at support@hoursbooster.com; the operator's name and postal address are given on request (see the Legal notice).

These terms apply to contracts for the provision of the Hours Booster 2 software and the associated licence key concluded through hoursbooster.com. A customer’s own terms do not become part of the contract, even if we do not expressly object to them.

Under Section 13 of the German Civil Code (BGB), a consumer is anyone who concludes the contract for purposes that are predominantly outside both their commercial and their independent professional activity; a trader is anyone who acts in the exercise of such an activity (Section 14 BGB). The withdrawal instructions apply to consumers only.

2. Subject matter of the contract

Hours Booster 2 is a Windows desktop application. It signs in to the customer’s own Steam account – either with the customer’s own login details or through the Steam client already running on the customer’s PC – and reports games the customer already owns as “currently playing”, so that Steam counts playtime.

We sell the software licence only. We do not sell, buy, trade or transfer Steam accounts, in-game currency, items or keys. We do not run a marketplace. We do not modify any game. We do not perform any service on the customer’s behalf: the software runs on the customer’s PC and under the customer’s own account, and we ourselves have no access to that account.

Requirements: Windows 10 or Windows 11 (64-bit), a Steam account of your own with games you own, and an internet connection for licence checks and updates. No particular number of credited hours is promised; how Steam records playtime is decided by Steam.

3. Conclusion of the contract

The presentation on the website is not a binding offer but an invitation to place an order.

The purchase works like this: you click “Buy” on the price card (on the other language versions of the website, the same button carries the word in that language). We then redirect you to the payment page of our payment service provider Stripe (checkout.stripe.com). There you enter your email address, your billing address and your payment method; the payment methods offered are shown on the payment page. Immediately before you place the order, the payment page shows you the product (the Hours Booster 2 lifetime licence) and the total price of EUR 50.00 as a one-time payment.

Right at the pay button, the payment page shows this declaration (quoted here in English; on the other language versions of the website it appears in translation): “By paying I expressly request immediate performance and confirm that I thereby lose my right of withdrawal. The terms at hoursbooster.com/terms.html apply.” You place the order with Stripe’s pay button. Its label – in English “Pay” – is set by Stripe; it makes clear that the order is subject to payment (Section 312j(3) BGB). Until then you can check and correct your entries on the payment page, or cancel the purchase by leaving the payment page.

By clicking the pay button you make a binding offer. The contract is concluded when we accept it – which we do by providing the licence key to you after payment and sending it to you by email. Stripe’s payment confirmation is not yet an acceptance.

You receive the contract text – these terms, the withdrawal instructions, the model withdrawal form and your declaration – with the licence email on a durable medium (Section 312f BGB). We do not store the contract text after the contract is concluded; we store only your order details. There is no customer account through which you could retrieve it. So please keep the email.

4. Price

The licence costs EUR 50.00, one-time. There is no subscription, there are no follow-up costs and there are no shipping costs, because nothing is shipped.

As a small business owner under Section 19 UStG, we do not show any VAT; the stated price is the final price, and for this reason an invoice showing VAT is not possible. The licence email serves as your order confirmation.

Payment is processed by Stripe; the payment methods available are shown on the payment page. Amounts are charged in euros. Any fees your bank or payment service charges for currency conversion are borne by you. The price is due immediately; we do not deliver without full payment.

5. Delivery

Delivery is purely digital. As soon as Stripe confirms the payment to us – immediately for most payment methods – we show you the licence key on the thank-you page and also send it to the email address you entered on the payment page, usually within a few minutes. For payment methods whose receipt is only confirmed later (such as SEPA Direct Debit), this may take a few working days; you then receive the key by email. You can download the application itself at any time at hoursbooster.com/download; it is a single program file.

If the email does not arrive, first check your spam folder and then write to us through the support form or to support@hoursbooster.com – we will send the key again. No physical medium is supplied.

6. Licence terms

Upon full payment you receive a simple (non-exclusive), perpetual right (lifetime licence) to use Hours Booster 2 for your own purposes. The copyright in the software remains with us.

One active PC at a time. You may enter the key on several PCs of your own, but only one can be active at a time: the newest activation wins, the previous one loses its place and Hours Booster 2 stops there. This means you can move to a new PC at any time without having to ask us.

The application checks the licence online at regular intervals. If the licence server cannot be reached, it keeps running for up to 14 days after the last successful check, also after a restart; after that it pauses until the licence server can be reached again.

The key is issued to you. You may not publish it, rent it out or distribute it to several people. You may pass on the licence as a whole permanently to another person if you no longer use it yourself afterwards and tell us about the transfer, so that we can re-register the key to the new holder; this does not permit use by several people at the same time. Beyond what the law permits (Sections 69d and 69e of the German Copyright Act, UrhG), the software may not be modified, reverse-engineered or freed from the licence check.

Revocation. If the purchase price is refunded in full or charged back by your bank, the licence key is revoked and your use ends. The same applies if a key has been published or distributed to third parties. A partial refund, for example as a goodwill gesture, does not end the licence.

7. Updates

We provide the updates that are necessary to keep Hours Booster 2 in conformity with the contract – in particular its ability to work with Steam and with Windows, and security updates – for at least 24 months from delivery (Section 327f BGB). Beyond that, for as long as Hours Booster 2 is offered, you receive every new version at no extra charge; that is how it is advertised and that is what is agreed.

The application announces new versions itself and installs them with one click. If you do not install an update provided to you within a reasonable period although we have informed you about its availability and the consequences of not installing it, we are not liable for defects that result solely from this (Section 327f(2) BGB); this does not apply if our installation instructions were defective.

If we cease operations. Should we permanently discontinue Hours Booster 2, we will publish a final version without a licence check before switching off the licence server, so that purchased licences can continue to be used. We will announce this at least 30 days in advance on hoursbooster.com and by email to the address given with the order.

8. Liability and your own risk

Important: Hours Booster 2 automates signing in to Steam. This may violate Valve’s terms of use, and Valve may restrict or suspend your Steam account. Use at your own risk.

Automating the sign-in to Steam and reporting running games may violate the Steam Subscriber Agreement and other rules set by Valve. Valve may therefore take action against your Steam account, up to restricting or permanently suspending the account and with it your access to the games purchased there. You buy and use the software at your own risk; we can neither assess nor promise that Valve tolerates its use. Please decide before buying whether you want to take this risk.

We are not liable for measures that Valve or other third parties take against your Steam account, your games or your items: they are based on the decision of a third party and lie outside our sphere of influence. This does not apply where we are liable without limitation under the following paragraph.

Otherwise, the following applies: we are liable without limitation for damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence, for damage resulting from injury to life, body or health, where we have given a guarantee, where we have fraudulently concealed a defect, and under the German Product Liability Act (ProdHaftG). In cases of simple negligence we are liable only for the breach of an essential contractual obligation – that is, an obligation whose fulfilment makes the contract possible in the first place and on which you may rely – and only up to the foreseeable damage typical for this kind of contract. Any further liability is excluded.

Your statutory rights in respect of defects in digital products (Sections 327 et seq. BGB) are not affected by this section.

9. Refund policy

Your statutory right of withdrawal always takes precedence over this policy: where you can validly withdraw (clause 10), you get the full purchase price back, without giving reasons and regardless of anything stated here. This policy cannot restrict the right of withdrawal; it only gives you something in addition.

14 days money back if it does not work. Independently of the right of withdrawal, we refund the full purchase price within 14 days of the purchase if Hours Booster 2 does not start on your PC or does not perform the functions described and support cannot solve the problem within a reasonable time. An email to support@hoursbooster.com with the licence key and a short description is enough; we will get back to you within two working days.

The refund is made to the same means of payment you paid with; we initiate it without undue delay, and Stripe carries it out. Depending on the payment method, it may take a few working days until the amount reaches you. With the refund, the licence key is revoked and your use ends.

The purchase price is not refunded if Valve takes action against your Steam account: this risk is expressly named in clause 8, it lies outside our sphere of influence, and you accept it with the purchase. Nor is it refunded if the licence key has been passed on or published.

Your statutory rights in respect of defects (Sections 327 et seq. BGB) exist independently of this policy and are not limited to 14 days. Please write to us first before you initiate a chargeback with your bank: a chargeback leads to the key being revoked and costs both sides fees that an email can avoid.

10. Right of withdrawal

Consumers have a statutory right of withdrawal of 14 days. The full withdrawal instructions and the model withdrawal form are on the Withdrawal page; they are available in all 15 languages of the website.

Because the licence key is provided immediately after payment, the right of withdrawal expires under Section 356(5) BGB once we have begun performance, if, with your order, you expressly requested that we begin performance before the withdrawal period ends, you confirmed that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal, and we have confirmed the contract including this declaration to you on a durable medium (the licence email, clause 3). Stripe’s payment page shows this declaration right at the pay button (clause 3); you make it by paying.

11. No affiliation with Valve

Hours Booster 2 is not affiliated with Valve Corporation; Steam is a trademark of Valve Corporation. We are not authorised, sponsored or reviewed by Valve.

12. Governing law, contract language, final provisions

German law applies. If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not affect the mandatory consumer protection provisions of the country in which you have your habitual residence (Art. 6(2) of the Rome I Regulation).

The contract languages are German and English. If you order through the German version of the website, the contract language is German; otherwise it is English. These terms are available in a German and an English version; both have the same content. The withdrawal instructions are also available in all 15 languages of the website; for the withdrawal instructions, the version in the language in which you ordered on the website prevails (this is also the language of your licence email).

For consumers, the statutory places of jurisdiction apply. We are neither willing nor obliged to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.

Should any provision of these terms be invalid, the rest of the contract remains valid; the invalid provision is replaced by the statutory rule.
